Robert Roy MacGregor quotes
Robert Roy MacGregor was a Scottish outlaw and folk hero, often regarded as the "Scottish Robin Hood." His life became the inspiration for numerous legends, ballads, and literary works. He gained a reputation for defying authority and helping the poor, cementing his legacy in Scottish culture. Here are 4 of his quotes:
Our last accounts of Rob Roy correspond with what this fellow has confessed, that, finding himself surrounded on all sides, he had dismissed the greater part of his followers, with the purpose either of lying concealed, or of making his escape through his superior knowledge of the passes.

I would not wrong thee, Champion brave!
Would wrong thee nowhere; least of all
Here standing by thy grave.
For Thou, although with some wild thoughts,
Wild Chieftain of a savage Clan!
Hadst this to boast of; thou didst love
The liberty of man.
And, had it been thy lot to live
With us who now behold the light,
Thou would'st have nobly stirred thyself,
And battled for the Right.
For thou wert still the poor man's stay,
The poor man's heart, the poor man's hand;
And all the oppressed, who wanted strength,
Had thine at their command.
