Archytas was an ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, and statesman from Tarentum, known for his contributions to mathematics and mechanics. Considered a founder of mathematical mechanics, he also made advances in geometry and harmonics. He influenced later thinkers such as Plato and helped shape the development of Western science.
