The priesthood was not abolished with the coming of Christ, but rather it was transformed. For as the shadows give way to the light, so the Old Covenant gives way to the New, in which the true High Priest, Christ Himself, offers the eternal sacrifice. And those who serve Him now do so not in the blood of bulls and goats, but in the grace of the Spirit and the unbloody sacrifice of the altar.
